Authorities are investigating a violent home invasion robbery that left a 94-year-old World War II veteran severely beaten by two masked men.
On Friday, the thugs broke into the home of Hershel “Bud” Moore’s home in Arcadia, Indiana, where they tied him up and beat him before ransacking the house. According to Deputy Bryant Orem, the two managed to get away with a large sum of money.
Bud suffered extensive bruising on his face, as he was pistol-whipped by the two assailants.
Thankfully, the elderly veteran was able to free himself by biting the finger of one of his attackers. He then called authorities for help.
There is currently a media campaign for the veteran with a Go Fund Me account to raise money for the beaten man. The goal is to raise $5000 for Bud.
A Facebook page has also been created by friends called “Justice for Bud” where well-wishers can post their support.
Mike Probst, a friend of Bud, said to the media that residents are outraged over the incident:
“[I was] pretty much irate. Made me mad that someone would go in and do this to a helpless man. Hopefully justice prevails and either the police or someone else will find them and I’m sure…they’ll get their karma.”
Hamilton County Police are asking the public to help locate the two suspects in connection with the case. As of now, the only description authorities are releasing is that the robbers were two males wearing masks.
What kind of sick bastards pistol-whip and rob a 94-year-old man? It’s truly disgusting and I pray that they find the thugs that did this and they are brought to justice.
